The best DTXpress kit yet! Order today! Reader Reviews I've owned this kit for just over a year now, and am still extremely satisfied with my purchase. pros: lots of customization. there are like, 50-odd pre-set kits, and lots of room for kits you customized yourself. there are hundreds of sounds available, and you can change any one basically however you'd like. the bass drum pad is big enough to support a double pedal, just make sure both beaters are hitting as close to the middle as possible so they sound even. the 3-zone snare pad is nice, and the 3-zone cymbals are nice. the cymbals are even chokeable, which is really great. while there are some silly, weird sounds you'd never use, there are a lot of nice sounds, including some real high-end Yamaha drums. there is a built-in metronome and lots of play-along songs, and you can record yourself doing anything. the kit is durable enough to be treated like an acoustic kit, just don't light it on fire, attack it with a chainsaw, or run it over with heavy equipment and you should be fine. cons: the hi-hat isn't as sensitive as i'd like. fast 16th notes that are close together sometimes aren't all picked up. but if you're not playing really fast patterns it's good enough. also, the bell of the cymbals aren't really as easy to play as i'd like them to be, so if you're say, alternating between the bow and bell of the ride, you might have difficulties. overall, i love this kit. obviously nothing can replace an acoustic kit, but for home practice/jamming, recording, or even playing small gigs, this thing is great.
